Best bans

A ban takes a champion out of both teams. A strong top laner is as likely to end up on your team as on theirs, so banning it saves nothing on average. In your own role, it can only be the enemy laner’s. These lists rank bans by what they save there: how often the enemy laner would pick the champion, times how much better they’d do with it. Bans save little. Even the best ones are worth a win or two per 1,000 games.

How it’s computed. Strength comes from the tier model, which takes out mastery, rank and games on the champion. How often the enemy laner picks a champion is its share of the role’s games on one side, counted over the games where it wasn’t banned. For your champion, we add the lane’s counter from the same model, for lanes with 50+ games. The number is wins saved per 1,000 games, with its margin. A ban rate counts the games where either team banned the champion. Each champion’s Explore tab has patch and rank slices of these. The guide
